Golden Bay is one of the most popular sandy beaches in Malta. It is a beautiful golden sandy beach that is located 5 minutes walk from the other beautiful beach Ghajn Tuffieha Bay near the village of Manikata. The beach is surrounded by natural dunes and steep cliffs, on which stands the Għajn Tuffieħa Tower built by the Knights of Malta.

Oct 2023. Riviera Beach is a closely kept secret and worth the effort. I took the Hop on Hop off bus to Golden Bay, walked back 700m and down 260 steps. I am sure there are local bus and taxi options. Soft sand and shallow water with a snorkelling option further out. Well worth the walk and climb to the opposite headland.

It is one of the beaches of Manikata settlement, just 1.5 km from its center. The beach is located in a natural place, among the mountains.

Riviera Bay (Ghajn Tuffieha) Ghajn Tuffieha (Apple's Eye in Maltese) is the smaller and less frequented sister of the neighbouring Golden Bay. The long flight of steps (they number nearly 200 in all) that need to be tackled in order to reach this beach have kept an unspoilt rural atmosphere to it.

Just next to Golden Bay is Ghajn Tuffieha Bay (also known as Riviera) - which has always been my preferred of the two. The fact that there is a quite steep flight of steps to descend to get to the beach means that the location doesn't attract the same volume of people as Golden Bay.
